Clarence Bicknell was a Pioneer of Alpine Discovery
Clarence Bicknell (1842–1918) was a renowned British botanist, archaeologist, and artist, celebrated for his extensive research and documentation of the flora and prehistoric rock engravings in the Maritime Alps. A man of many talents, Bicknell dedicated much of his life to exploring the French-Italian border, meticulously cataloging wildflowers and uncovering ancient petroglyphs. His passion for nature and history left an enduring legacy, including the founding of the Bicknell Museum in Bordighera, Italy, which continues to inspire naturalists and scholars today.
